The Mississippi Delta is a magical place full of music and history and rural Americana at its best. I often guide tours through the Delta to teach people about the history of the Blues and the people who made it famous. On this particular tour, we found ourselves at the Shack Up Inn outside of Clarksdale, Mississippi. Dusk was fast approaching and I found a great angle to shoot this old sharecropper’s shack from. The setting sun lit up the front of the shack and you can almost see its former inhabitants standing on the porch and watching the sunset. The old rusty car completes the scene and makes the photo. I love the Mississippi Delta and have had many of my photos published of the region, but this is still my favorite.
