Nevada is an amazing and oft-overlooked destination. It’s so much more than just Las Vegas and desert. There are incredible old mining towns, beautiful state parks, stunning mountain ranges and wonderful art projects to see. You can dance with lady luck or drive down the loneliest road in America. It’s a ruggedly independent state with a hardy people who live through blisteringly hot summers and dry, frigid winters. The state’s long and storied mining history has led to a diverse population and even today new immigrants come to Nevada cities to find work in the hotels, casinos and restaurants that help keep the economy humming. My journey through Nevada brought me from Denio on the Oregon border south to Carson City and then across the Loneliest Highway to Ely. From there I headed south all the way to Boulder City before leaving into Utah via Mesquite. All told, it was an amazing five weeks which I will always remember fondly. I hope you enjoy this sampling of my time in The Silver State.
