Welcome to Miles2Go! My name is Michael Harding and I am really glad you stopped by. Miles2Go is the hub of my current journey - a slow-travel, multi-year adventure around the United States. I hope to spend at least a month in each state and chronicle my travels here, using photography, blog posts, podcasts and social media to bring you along for the ride.

I have spent the majority of my adult life guiding multi-week adventure and sightseeing tours of North America. I have traveled extensively from San Diego to Nova Scotia, Key West to Fairbanks and so many places in between. While it’s an awesome job, I always feel rushed - moving at a breakneck pace from one highlight to the next. After 15 years of jamming across the continent, I decided to step back for a while and start traveling my way - low and slow - and to check out all of the places most people just blow past. I love to visit small towns and state parks and historic sites, to talk to local people and see what their lives are like. Listening to local music and eating unique foods also top the list when I’m on the road.

As a professional photographer, I try and capture the places I visit from my own perspective and maybe show scenes people see every day in a different light. Because I’m new in town, it’s all fresh and new to me.

I love connecting with people through my photography, whether through this site, through my social media accounts, or through the magazines, books, brochures, websites and others’ social media outlets which have been kind enough to share my work with their own followers over the years.

The historian in me loves to learn about state history, especially about lesser known incidents. The storyteller in me loves to bring these stories to light with my podcast American Anthology. Listen in to hear stories of the magic, tragic and downright strange things that I learn about as I go. Each episode also features local music so you can hear some great tunes as well.

Finally, the adventurer and avid outdoorsman in me absolutely loves getting out into the wild. Hiking, skiing, biking, scuba diving, snorkeling and, of course, nature photography are the things which really make me happy. I hope to share my favorites with you here.

It’s been a heck of a ride so far, and I’m forever grateful for all I’ve seen and learned and been able to share with others. And yet I feel like I’ve only just begun. Whenever and however you’ve found this site, I’m grateful you’re here, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride. You can find out more at the links below. I’d love to stay and chat, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.
